Emotional abuse happens when someone uses words or actions to hurt your feelings, lower your self-worth, or control you.
It can be just as harmful as physical violence, even though it leaves no visible scars.
Emotional abuse can include:
- Insults, name-calling, or constant criticism
- Threats, intimidation, or shouting
- Making you feel guilty, ashamed, or afraid
- Blaming you for everything or refusing to listen
- Controlling who you talk to or spend time with
